More Atheists Than You Know
There is no good reason to declare yourself an atheist if you are one. If you are it is obvious that you don't have much interest in theism at all, but I'm sure lead a rich fulfilling life without it. There's no need to rain on someone else's parade. Most people go along with religion for the perks of feasting and presents and gingerbread houses, some even enjoy solely the social aspect, without ever believing an ounce of superstition.

Because believing in an imaginary being isn't good for your survival, but going along with powerful people who tell you to believe in the imaginary being is good for your survival, there is a survival paradox, and only when given the alternative that yes, you can be honest, say what you always wanted to say, that all this god stuff was nonsense, will that paradox stop being a paradox, and all the people who survived off their common sense will say, yeah, I mean, it's definitely not the most important thing in my life, this religion stuff, it probably isn't real, because what is real to me is me and what I'm good at.

So there are more atheists than you know, atheists who just went along for the candy. It is the theists who are the minority insane.

When that 'candy' is consumed, be it by true believers™ or poseurs, it doesn't just satisfy the individual's sweet tooth. Often the great taste is just too good to keep for oneself...everybody should eat it!(So they think.) That pushy insistance, along with often forced shunning of other desserts, is why athiests self identify as such. Pushing empty calories isn't a good thing. Push me, and I push back.

*Devil's Advocate Helm equipped*

In their defense, it is the job of Christians to spread the word of Jesus and ensure that everyone you can possibly save is saved. I don't mind if people come up to ask me about it, or give me a booklet. Usually I just take them and say thank you.

*Devil's Advocate Helm removed*

In our defense, we'd prefer to see rational thinking take the wheel rather than superstition and faith, and those believers (and mentioned poseurs) who try to get the law on their side are the douchebags that we push back the hardest. If you ask me if I have a moment to talk about Jesus and I politely refuse (which I would) and THEN you launch into a threatening sermon and ad hom attacks, don't expect me to be nice about it anymore.

Agreed Captain.

Christianity and Islam are the two most dangerous diseases on this planet. They are responsible for the death and torture of millions, if not billions of people. Softening them up and comparing them to fun social activities that people just sort of go-along-with is not legit.

They are extremely dangerous and should never be taken lightly. In this country, (US) Christianity will rob you of your personal freedom before you can get the chance to say, "hey wait a minute."

I say, fight back. Be heard and fuck anyone who tells me not to stand up and tell the world to fight the control of idiotic primitives practicing the immoral policies of a book written by liars, pedophiles and killers.

I'm sorry but I find your responses sort of ridiculous. I agree and disagree. Points I'd like to make:

1. Never fault the book. It's long, it has good stories, just because people manipulate people's minds with it doesn't make the book bad.

2. You can use the book for good or evil. There are good religious people and bad, but for the most part, it is religion's job to keep peace and order, and be good.

3. Are you saying that you weren't raised with a religion? Are you saying that religion to you wasn't just a christmas tree? Are you saying you don't like Christmas trees? Are you saying you don't like presents? These are the perks I'm talking about, and these are perks that have nothing to do with the bullshit politics you're talking about, because I don't give a shit about religion or their politics.

religion is old and it has a lot of power. Please realize what you're taking on and show some respect before you make your arguments.
