Arse. I explained that badly.

I didn't mean that my kids love me because God made them do it. I'm just saying that "love" is a very crude and slightly misleading shorthand for a complex and inadequately understood syndrome. In the same way, many of my religious beliefs are crude and slightly misleading shorthands for things I don't understand. I don't seek to represent them as "truth", so much as "functional models".

And it seems to you that I'm choosing comfortable beliefs (which you may think are lies, although I'm not sure on what basis since you don't know what most of them are), to avoid dealing with things which are uncomfortable because that is exactly what I'm doing. It's a world view that functions better than the others I've tried! I'm sure that's not true for everyone.

I'm not trying to sell it, (especially not here). Just explaining since you asked.
