Is this really weirder than any of the other crap theists talk? I don't think holding this view makes him mentally ill any more than I think believing the world is 6,000 years old makes you mentally ill.

Stuff like this is interesting because it beautifully illustrates how hardwired our brains are to detect patterns and to try to connect those patterns to each other and find meaning in them- the very creativity that makes all our advancements possible. It can go into hyperdrive for sure, but it's a stone fact of our nature that we will seek pattern and meaning in nearly everything we look at. A predisposition to finding patterns that support a bias is also pretty normal.

Actually I have been told by Evangelical Christians that everybody who is not a Christian (in their eyes) is the Antichrist.
