"The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5
Since this is technically my thread, and I'm really still in the 'introduction' phase, I'll put it here rather than starting a new thread elsewhere because I'm not sure where it might belong.
My father died of an aneurysm when I was just about 18 months. Suffice it to say I never knew my dad. But I continually hear how much my character, mannerisms, personality, looks, everything about me resembles him almost to a freakish standpoint. My dad was in the Navy. He was a chef. He went on nuclear subs, he went on aircraft carriers, he stayed on port at some bases. After the passing of his mother some 12 months ago, my aunt sent me all the memorabilia grandma'd kept of my dads. I've got old work uniforms (high school job, pre military), medals, I've got two kindergarten assessments from his teacher. Most importantly to me, I've got letters. Actual letters that he wrote home to his family (mom and dad and sisters, at that time, not wifey and kids). I now get a better understanding of the person this man was. He was amazing. So smart. So so smart. Witty (I have my days). But also tragically, converted from nothing-ism to catholicism just a few years before his death. It's only just occuring to me how weird this is. This super smart man (I have stayed objective, because while I hear endless praise from his family about how great he was, I've also now been sent documentation from high school as well as military academy and on post personnel that commend his efforts and capabilities), was still stupid in the ways of reality. Kind of scary. How did I get it right at such a young age and he didn't? What part of life made it so for him and for myself? Thanks to Cinjin for making it more 'sig space' friendly. Welcome to the forums I'm happy you're here. As for your father, it sounds like he liked organizations. I'd just chalk it up to that --- the Catholics are hardcore organized indoctrination, and appeal to people who seek order in their lives.
Also, we now have open enrollment bunny club goin on up in here so if you want in, you should know by now what to do Venerate me Rep me Post your bunny avatar

Rep you... meaning represent? How does one do that, exactly?
I ven you, you ven me, right? Deal Perhaps most important, what is the bunny club? Because I don't really know what that is. And my avatar is bunnies, but in case that changes soon, here's what it was... greatest bunnies of all, that's what! Wallace and Gromit of course. Thanks to Cinjin for making it more 'sig space' friendly. (October 25, 2013 at 2:00 am)Owlix Wrote: Rep you... meaning represent? How does one do that, exactly?Rep, as in reputation. See the green digit in the right hand corner of your posts? That's your reputation. They are a small token of appreciation given from other members. Quote:what is the bunny club? Because I don't really know what that is. It's an inside joke here on AF, that Luckie started. The internet has it's cats, we are taking over with bunnies Quote:And my avatar is bunnies, but in case that changes soon, here's what it was... And what a lovely avatar it is! When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
Welcome from the UK!
So you want fame? Well fame costs. And here's where you start paying. In bunnies.
Sum ergo sum
The bunny club is a highly exclusive and elusive invitation only (although right now there's open enrollment) top secret organization which almost never meets and holds no membership fees. We do have a bunny chant. Members are expected to fulfill the entire initiation process and as I said, venerate me at all times and give me kudos, and be an active bunny activist in the name of all that is good and holy bunny Batman I just realized Ben Davis and Kayenneh aren't in the bunny club yet! wtf!
