Fuck Churches

If it is already spent, being held to fund a mission, or if it is being held to secure a bond or anything else along those lines. Churches have to operate like businesses in order to make it in a business driven world, which means a insolary glance at a bank statement has nothing to do with their ablity to access their money and or even use it. They can not run like you run your house hold, where if there is money in your account it is avaible to spend. I think you're missing the point: for an organization that provides, as its main product, absolutely nothing of any verifiable value, and treats the price for that as theirs by right, there sure are a lot of breaks and concessions being made for what would be a scam the moment you remove the crosses and the funny hats.

Oh there's plenty of profit in churches. Don't forget, churches are non-profit, but the PEOPLE who work for the church aren't volunteers. Pastor's gotta feed his kids somehow! I don't know about other countries but in the US to retain the charity status an organization only needs to spend 65% on programs and activities.
Thanks to Cinjin for making it more 'sig space' friendly. Quote:an organization only needs to spend 65% on programs and activities Which can include the "administrative costs" associated with those programs. This makes it merely an exercise in creative accounting. A true "miracle!"
its funny how Drich--who knows nothing about this church-- is defending it as if the questions raised by the OP are negligent. Considering 'human nature', you'd think skepticism with regards to any organization is in order by rational adults.
apparently not if you're in that club
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite. Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment. Quote:Some people deserve hell. I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
