Is killing a witch always a bad thing?

Hmmm, I fear noone.
"My magic is greater than yours" kinda thing.
Wait wait wait....Drich, do you believe in real witches? Like that girl in bewitched? Or maybe Sabrina? Do they have familiars too? Talking black cats maybe?

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House “Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom "If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech (October 27, 2013 at 1:27 pm)Rationalman Wrote: Wait wait wait....Drich, do you believe in real witches? Like that girl in bewitched? "Google it, Witchcraft is a real religion, albeit very benign today. A few hundred years ago it was the only real option to Christianity in the west. It's practitioners did all sorts of terrible things in the name of satan. Whether satan endowed those people with powers or not the underlying fact is that much torment and destruction was doled out in his name. Much like the crusades or inquisitions. "
There are no real witches, just sad deluded people who think that mumbling rubbish and performing stupid rituals can in some way influence things they couldn't possibly influence.
Sometimes the rituals are quite gross and horrific, in some countries albino body parts are supposed to be powerful so the stupid mother fuckers kidnap and kill albinos. http://www.npr.org/2012/11/30/165643518/...-of-attack But witches are no more dangerous than other religiously motivated people when they get these ideas in their heads. The persecution and torture of innocent people in the mistaken belief they were witches can be readily laid at the foot of christianity. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.
You see Drich, this is the problem with religious morality. You ask us if killing witches is always wrong, and tacitly (if not explicitly) defend that it is always right by saying there are bad witches. Contradicting yourself, I see.
And if you honestly believe in witches - that is, beings using magic, not simply followers of a particular religion (Wicca, usually) - then I'm concerned about your mental state. This isn't the 17th century. (October 27, 2013 at 1:30 pm)catfish Wrote: As nice as I can, I'm going to point to Drich's quote which you seemed to have missed... Well, hold on, catfish: I distinctly recall arguing with Drich over a modern witch-burning, where his defense was that the person that was burnt could have been practicing witchcraft. Making assumptions about this shit puts you on shaky ground.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
