"Cut and paste" Christianity
#71
RE: "Cut and paste" Christianity
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman,

Saerules, this is clearly a reference to homosexuality not a hermaphrodite. If you lie with a man as you lie with a woman you are having sex with a man as you would with a woman. Homosexual sex has nothing to do with a vagina since gay men have anal sex.

satire

But a man can't lie with a man as he lies with a woman... because men don't have vaginas! Confusedhock:

You can only have sex with a man as you have sex with a woman in a 'handful?' of ways... and none of them can involve boobs, vaginas, or penises. What that leaves you... is oral, anal, and really a number of things. Smile However, for a man to lie with a man, as he lieth with a woman: the man can't be performing any actions that require his partner to have boobs, vaginas, or penises... because those are mutually exclusive to each sex Smile

Essentially... Christianity would be supporting anal, oral, and other methods of sexual pleasure that do not require exclusive organs... while at the same time shunning people like hermaphrodites Smile

Quote:Homosexual sex has nothing to do with a vagina since gay men have anal sex.
Exactly Smile So a man couldn't lie with another man the same way... unless it was referencing anal sex, oral sex, and what have you non-mutually-exclusives Smile

Edit: as a random note... I'm tickled inside by this... 'interesting' interpretation ^_^

Leviticus 20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

No amount of apologetics or theological bull shit can change that.

Outdated law.

Very many things in Leviticus are for the purpose of cultural preservation, astoundingly obviously. Very little in the way of apologetics is needed at all.

Saerules you are reading more into it than the text is describing. Simply having sex with a man is similar to lying with a man as you would with a woman. In the most derrogative way you are fucking him.

Lol ^_^

The wording of the text allows for such an interpretation as this:
My Joke Wrote:Essentially... Christianity would be supporting anal, oral, and other methods of sexual pleasure that do not require exclusive organs... while at the same time shunning people like hermaphrodites

Please don't misunderstand it's purpose as a joke, chatpilot ^_^ I'll go back and edit in a satire notice Tongue (I thought obvious joke was obvious :S) (Also, please note that my agreement with him on the passage can be seen in fr0d0's above post. I don't deny that the passage was meant to refer to homosexuality... but you will notice that just about nobody follows all of the laws seen in Leviticus? Tongue I mean: how many people still go out and slay a pigeon and cut it open upon the alter? Tongue)

Im sorry but I dont think that makes sense of the verse. The verse made a point that they left women and went to men.

I would like to point out I don't hate gays, I just have to follow what the bible is saying unless a better interpretation is given (thats why I was interested in if you could explain that verse).

Isn't that a lot like saying... "I don't hate them; God hates them." ? Smile

The very best interpretation of this particular instance... is that it is an

If you want to challenge that... I suppose you follow every other outdated law in Leviticus? Smile What's to distinguish it as different from the other laws throughout the entire chapter? Smile

No its like saying I dont hate gays, nor does God, He hates sin. It is very possible to love someone but hate what they do. One example of this is you can hate what a friend has done but still love them.

What distinguish it is that it is not from Old Testament Leviticus, it is from New Tesament Romans. Big Grin[/quote]

They left women - their nature is established. If the men had left men to go with women what would that say? No, the verse says heterosexuals suddenly practiced homosexual acts.

I'm with you. I don't mind if the bible were to be unfashionable. It's moral stance isn't swayed by sociocultural influence.

The laws of Leviticus simply aren't considered out of context.
