Do I, like, need to remind you to get that thing? This feels like you ditzed out on something you needed to do. Dodgy

lol no hunny, it was Veterans day and I just got overly distracted with the kids on their day off Wink
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

And then you totally ditzed out. What do you think "ditzed out" means? I've seen your facebook feed, I think getting distracted by a couple of kids playing Mario counts as ditzy behavior! Tongue

okay one: I couldn't leave because I was watching the kids (in hindsight I guess I could've taken them with me). Also we left the second their mom came home and were an hour away all day!
B: why? what was the question?

Just consider that the thing you were weighing against "busy watching the kids" was your survival. Damn right you take them with you.

Anyway, I'm just teasing, we'd better not derail the thread anymore, and seriously go to bed like wow. Tongue

Where did I try to sell the idea that god needs pleasure? Please quote me.

That's what I said, sweetie! Thanks for agreeing. That's two of you who didn't bother to check the beginning of this part of the discussion and see what my position really is.
Quote:If anything it would be a want, which brings us back to: god is a selfish bastard. What was your counter argument to that? I missed it.
It was that if you think this indicates that god is a selfish bastard, than most people are, too, as they do the same thing.

No, but you just said that it isn't a need for another 24 hours.

No, the donut would have sated a desire for something sweet. I didn't substitute another sweet item, I just did without.

I think that people are largely driven by selfish motives. Our own survival urge is the stronger one, but we're also driven by smaller urges that we want to satisfy. I think we're wired that way and we developed the concept of unselfish behavior in order to build stable communities and societies.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Where did I try to sell the idea that god needs pleasure? Please quote me.

In the following post you CLEARLY are trying to sell the fact that your god NEEDS pleasure by making the statement, "... and so would bring god greater pleasure." You can dance around it and back peddle all day, but this post is a sick reminder of how twisted you and your vile god can be. Now before you respond, please read your own post and do try avoiding hypocrisy.

John V Wrote:Just avoiding hypocrisy.

In Job, God derives pleasure and glory from Job's obedience. He allows Job to suffer, as obedience through suffering is greater than obedience with reward, and so would bring God greater pleasure.

I don't judge god for doing this because I do the same thing. So do you, and probably everyone on here. We place our own pleasure and glory above the suffering of others all the time. The difference between me and you is that I admit it, but you'll attempt to rationalize it.

On a side note:
Only a real sleaze-bag would put his own pleasure and glory above the suffering of others ... and you just admitted that you do this exact thing.
There has NEVER been an occasion where I have allowed someone to suffer just so I could get some kind of perverse pleasure from it. EVER!

You and your god are a real couple of sadistic SOBs.

Completely incorrect. I've just spent pages arguing that it wasn't a need, for crying out loud.

Sure you do. You spend time and money on your own glory and pleasure, when it could have been devoted to reducing suffering in others. All but the neediest do. Before you argue that you don't take pleasure from the suffering itself and god did, note that god did not take pleasure from the suffering, as I've already explained.

All evidence points to the contrary. You asked for me to quote you. I did. Now shut the fuck up. No one cares to hear you back-peddling through your own contradictions.

Spending time and money is NOT the SAME FUCKING THING as willfully allowing people to suffer so that I can then derive pleasure from it ... and that's EXACTLY WHAT YOU FUCKING WROTE YOUR GOD DOES!!!
Additionally, your fucking vain god didn't just allow it, he condoned it! He put his godly fucking STAMP ON IT! You continually contradict yourself because you can't keep your own god damn pack of lies straight.

I'm fucking sick of your god damn shit. We all are. You prance around here with your dunce cap continually spewing the same drivel the Drich shits out of his mouth.
The Bible proves YOUR GOD IS A NARCISSIST DIRTBAG! END OF STORY. Now shut the fuck up you gullible sheep.

My apologies to the rest of the forum for losing my temper. This guy is a real piece of work.
