Google Wave invites

At a very basic level it is, but you aren't texting specific people, you are texting anyone who happens to be listening, which can be people who follow your tweets, bots that scape texts that have certain words in them, or even people doing a search on something.
Which is something that people like me don't have much use for... but which some other people can use very well
 So Twitter's usefulness really depends on wether or not a person can use it to its fullest extent, or not
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
I agree with Tim O'Reilly's statement: "Try Twitter for 30 days, actually using it, playing around with it, finding out as much as you can about it. If you still don't 'get' Twitter after that, it's not for you."
I started out a bit confused about why it was so popular, and then I "found" Twitter, how to use it properly, how to interact with people, etc. 
Well that must be it, after a week I was just bored with it.

Me too. I need to find a good use for it is all. I have Google emailing me news stories for my town for example.

Wait a few days or alternatively, sign up for the developer sandbox and get access immediately. Just bullshit on the form if you aren't a developer.
