While I appreciate his honesty and candor, I deplore his lack of credentials for his profession. "I don't know" wouldn't fly across the room in my professional circles. If one of my peers stated that they "don't know" about what they are presuming to teach, they would be let go from their position. This guy should be fired.
ETA: ...fired from his Catholic job and given one in the Unitarian church. As a Catholic, he is supposed to profess his faith - he professes only doubt.
I think that's kinda what he was eluding to. Plus, isn't this the only job that one can get only by pretending to know things? For me, it's nice to see one of them admit it. I have a sneaking suspicion that this guy's about as catholic as I am. However, I couldn't get Catholics to give credence to what I say in the way this guy can. I view people like this as a spy in the midst.
I have a feeling that the jig was up after this little speech of his. I can't imagine the clergy having a different opinion than yours.
And yet mother Teresa is said to have communicated with the pope about her own struggle with faith. It seems to be a bragging point with them to admit to struggling and yet remaining loyal to the church and doctrines anyhow. It is almost as if they recognize that a leap of faith by an idiot who doesn't really understand the weight of the arguments against isn't very laudable.
