Oh, the irony!

RE: Oh, the irony!
Oh.. my son was a bit more straightforward...
One fine day, he was about 5, we were in the car, heading home. He asks: dad, there's no santa claus, is there?
To which I replied: no, there isn't.
him: it's you and mum that give us the presents, right?
me: yes.
him: I knew it!

I often wonder if kids get to a certain point where they only pretend to believe in Santa because they don't want to spoil the magic for their obviously credulous parents. I don't remember ever acting like that as a child, but then half the time I struggle to remember what I did last week.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Only stupid kids believe in Santa. I figured it out shortly after my 2nd Birthday, when I realised my Grandparents' neighbour was dressed up as Santa, as I recognised his shoes. True story. Lol

I was born suspicious. I remember being about 6 or 7 and losing my first tooth, and being keen to catch out whoever was going to pose as the tooth fairy. (It was my Grandad, and I caught him. :D)

It's weird. Most people don't. I can remember stuff that happened before I was 2 years old, too. But ask me what happened this morning, and I'll have no idea lol

Someone once told me that when they were told the truth about Santa that they had a crisis of faith in god (rightfully so, imo) and that to keep her kids from going through the same thing, she wouldn't do Santa with them... I just looked at her and couldn't suppress a chuckle. When I was very young I questioned all these claims. My mother says it was rather strange as I was so young, yet thought so rationally. I was never brought up with the belief in the Easter Bunny and it was laughable and strange to me that kids believed in him! That's how I think it must feel to be raised godless.

I actually feel bad that the kid will never get to experience the fun of thinking some bearded man has a list of all the good and bad things you do throughout the year and will then reward you for being good afterwards.

Oh, wait, nevermind.
