Scientific thinking haven't come closer one inch regarding question of God, afterlife, soul.

So what? The fact that science hasn't let you "know" in that self-deceiving way of yours doesn't mean thinking wishfully as you do is any less self-deceiving.
You're asking me so what in putting you God, lepricons and jins in the same boat?

Reporting him would be hitting too soft a target.

How am I trolling you? So far I see you don't believe soul, God, afterlife exist but you don't know for sure! Are atheists all such?

Your ideas about afterlife, God, soul are completely equivalent things to fairy, lepricons and jins in terms of how these concept came to be, what widespread psychological weaknesses of humans they happen to exploit to remain in popular culture, and how non-existant are the evidence and support for their reality.

There is nothing that can be known is the sense of it being the received truth from above collective human capacity for rigorous analysis of accessible evidence. But one could make a probability assessment of the likelihood of something being true in light of carefully evaluated and validated lines of evidence. This is the maximum extend of any real "knowing".

To not know in this rigorous sense and still claim to know is the height of self deception.

So I don't know in the self-deceptive sense of "knowing" you use that afterlife, God, soul does not exist. But I know in the rigorous sense of evidence that reasons to believe in the reality of afterlife, God, soul is so insignificant that it would intellectually criminal to act as if there are significant likelihood of their reality for that possibility to be acted upon.

So put down your Doztoevsky, and pick up a study of scientific thinking. It won't make you feel profound in a self delusional way, but it will make what you say much more likely to be true.

You put jins, lepricons and God in the same boat again?
Scientific thinking haven't come closer one inch regarding question of God, afterlife, soul.

Which is exactly what one would expect if these things didn't exist.

You asked earlier about my belief's verses my knowledge:

I do not believe God exists, nor an afterlife, nor a soul.

I cannot know these things 100% for certain but I am sure enough to bet my afterlife, or lack of one, on it.

Of course - we keep referring to God and I assume you mean the Christian one. You do realize that if there is a God but its not your God you will be rotting in hell besides me.

Judging by the number of variations of Churches - each one claiming to be the one and only - there is a decent chance you are worshipping the right God but in the wrong way and still end up in Hell with me.

"What tortures? Ah, don't ask. In old days we had all sorts, but now they have taken chiefly to moral punishments- 'the stings of conscience' and all that nonsense.

I liked that part. Perhaps more revealing than had been intended.

"There was a time when we'd have gone all Hellraiser on a sinner's ass, you know. Chains, whips, molten liquid, dildos covered in long rusty spikes. And lots more," he said wistfully. "We could make a dozen steps feel like a quadrillion miles, I'll tell you that!" With this, he burst into a prolonged laughter, occasionally slapping his thigh or pausing to wipe his eyes. He finally stopped, and glared at Ivan. "Now it's namby-pamby shit like 'walk for a trillion miles and we'll open the Pearly Gates.' It's disgusting, really. Don't they understand that once they cross that threshold, they'll forget that they ever walked at all?"

He closed his eyes and shook his head slowly. "Some people really don't understand the concept of eternity, you know what I'm saying?" Ivan nodded, hoping that the creature would not notice that he was backing away.

Maybe we can make it a homework assignment. Write your own addendum to the OP's snippet from Dostoyevsky!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Only the good ones. The bad ones "know" in exactly the same self-delusional sense you think you "know", but of the opposite things as what your imagined "knowing" has brought you. This means they commit an error of exactly the same nature as yours, although fortuitously in a direction that results in much less damage.

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
