RE: Atheism is a Religion . . . . but a good one

However, if you state, as a matter of fact, that there is no God, you are taking a Leap of Faith and crossing over into the world of Religious Dogma. If you state that a God-belief is stupid, you are a religious fanatic.
If the Question of God or the Nature of God is unknowable, then why do I believe in God ? Well, for me, God is not something I believe in, God is a Supreme Being that my Consciousness is aware of. Of course, what I think I am aware of is not Scientific Proof. So, as a Rationalist, I am willing to place this ‘Awareness’ down as a Belief and put it down in the category of Faith.
I think these last two paragraphs are the crux of what you're saying. And you're right... If an atheist is minding their "p's & q's" they should never say "There is no God". A better statement would be "There is no credible evidence for for the existence of a God or Gods". Even saying "I don't believe in God" still leaves the door open for someone to present credible evidence. I think that when most atheists say God doesn't exist they are really just being a little lazy rather than asserting that they have proven a negative. (Which is a bitch...)
The statement: "Atheism is a Religion" is NOT correct. And since we're quoting Bill Mahar... "Atheism is precisely NOT that!"

A heartfelt thanks to Ben Davis for diluting that OP. I couldn't face all that in one lump, not on an empty stomach anyway. I got Distracted by all The Random initial Capitals. I don't know about anyone else but I am an atheist, not an Atheist.

My atheist friends all believe there is no God. This requires faith, thus atheism is a religion. My pastor and I help atheist even when they insult Christ. It breaks my heart when I see atheist resort to hedonism and drugs to cope with their meaningless lives. If atheist want to be happy they must reject their human nature and align their thoughts, feelings, and actions with the LORD's and learn to at least get a glimpse of what TRUE love and goodness is.

Unless you are friends with every person who identifies as atheist on the planet, your 'thus' is bullshit. Your definition of atheism is wrong, thus, STFU.

Well, I don't believe this, even if anybody else does. I just don't believe there is a god. No faith required. So no, Poe.

I think that the question of whether or not a god exists is not worth asking. By asking you're already assuming too much. So my position isn't so much that I don't believe in god's existence, but that the question itself is too absurd to deserve an answer.
WashedinChristblood, hi there, you seem to live a horrible life where you believe everyone is going to burn in hell. I live a pretty good life where I treat my friends nicely, I have fun, I work hard, I go shoe shopping when I'm sad, and I eat a lot of good food almost everyday. I don't know why looking at my life would break anyone's heart. On the other hand, looking at kids like you does make me sad and hate religion more. I'm assuming you're a kid, if you're not then that makes me sadder. It's very ignorant of you to attribute atheism with drug misuse, and I hope you're not telling these people that they're worthless sinners and will burn in hell if they don't believe in your made up god. Real life isn't grade school, you don't get marks for effort, you do good by being knowledgeable about what you're doing. You coming here and telling everyone they deserve to die is a horrible thing to do, you may have good intentions, that doesn't count anymore, so unless you want to continue doing these horrible things, you want to learn about your own position and take some real responsibilities in your actions.

Why? Isn't this Christ of yours man enough to stand up for himself?

It breaks my heart to see anyone resorting to imaginary crutches just so they can feel superior to everyone else and justify their own miserable lives to themselves.
But if my hedonism upsets you so much, don't watch.

Thank you for clarifying how your religion strips you of your humanity. If washing myself in blood and conforming my thoughts to your sick doctrine ("Ein Volk! Ein Geist! Ein Gott!") is TRUE love and goodness, then I am proud to consider myself an atheist.
Apologies to native German speakers if my Google-Translate-powered effort caused you any pain.

What the hell? Have I once again forgotten that it's uninformed asshole week?!
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
