Never claimed that.
It's actually a common plea from criminals, when they're being sentenced or when they go before the parole board. They all cry about how they found Jesus and it's changed them and they aren't a danger anymore. I'm glad judges usully ignore those pleas, though.
Still, I'm getting that 'no true scottsman' vibe from you. Truth is, whenever they poll prisons, they find the ratios of the religious beliefs of the people in prison is generally the same as the ratios of the religious beliefs as the general population. You know what that says to me? Religious people are just as likely to be criminals as atheists. There goes the whole "christians have better morls" meme I always here, huh?
Quote: Repent and believe the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is forgiveness for everyone who repents.
And therein lies the problem with the morality of the Bible. You rape, murder, steal, beat children, commit all kinds of atrocities.... and in your waning hours, ask Jesus for forgiveness and it's all good to god. Whereas, if you have someone who dedicated their life to peace and compassion and brotherhood but they aren't Christian, god is pissed and they go to hell. I mean, by that logic, it's entirely possible for Hitler to be chillin in heaven while people like Martin Luther King may have had a moment of doubt before death and he's roasting in hell for it. Does god really care more about whether or not you kiss his holy ass than he does whether or not you are a good person?
Quote: God's forgiveness does not mean there are no consequences for sin (jail, diseases, death, etc.). It does mean we are not eternally condemned.
The Bible is literally filled with stories about people having those consequences eliminated simply because they had faith in god. Have you even read your holy book?
