Who here is a Final Fantasy nerd like me? I've played/beaten Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2 (that one disappointed me), and some of XII.
My favorites are VII, VII and IX :3

What beautiful music and cut scenes, what an awesome open-feeling gameplay, and what an awesome end-game boss fight. I think once they went full-3D, the series lost a lot of its charm. Now, it's basically just another MMO. QQ (December 28, 2013 at 4:50 am)bennyboy Wrote:(December 27, 2013 at 2:13 pm)LalalaTabby Wrote: Who here is a Final Fantasy nerd like me? And yeah, I've seen the 3D mess they did...I didn't like it at all. A lot of people give it crap for the "crappy graphics"...I think the story line is amazing, the cut scenes are fantastic, and the the game play over all is just beautiful. I cried when we got to disc 2 ( Aries! T_T
Played them all.
I think they went down hill after 12 for PS2. They are Fantasy games... need to get back to their roots. Villages, buying equipment, finding equipment, fantasy story, dragons, knights things of that nature. Make another franchise for all the high tech laser guns, FF is called Final" Fantasy"! FF1 was great! It was like Hobbit type creatures, elves, dragons, ogres, imps, dwarves, great game!
I've played I through XII, except for XI. I have a huge soft spot for the older games. Final Fantasy VI and VII were particularly great games.
I remember playing the very first one on NES. What a joke; get an entire party of fighters and you can beat the game in under an hour.
Nobody ever gives 8 any credit, but its the best 32 bit version IMO.

I can finish an entire battle in DnD before one of those GF animations is done playing out. Also, whoever came up with the idea of drawing spells from enemies which you would never use anyway because you need as many junctioned as possible to your GFs needs to be slapped upside the head. Admittedly the GF animations got old, but it still had the most unique battle system of any FF except FF Tactics. Also, you can play through most of the game without using GF's at all if you want to. I've done it. I never had a problem with drawing spells or their impact on GFs, if anything it was a welcome change of pace from the usual mana driven system. FF8 had a uniqueness I enjoyed.
I've played some FF. I completed 3, 12 Revenant Wings, and Chrystal Chronicles. I've also played some of 4, 6, and 7. It's an interesting series.
