Photos of camps yes, new reports of camps yes, and the camps themselves yes. But there is no physical evidence of any mass killings or gassing. Not one autopsy of a body that was killed by poison gas.
Lots of typhus and emaciated bodies due to health issues and food shortages.

Here's the problem with this line of reasoning: During the American Civil War, there was a little camp called Andersonville. Disease ran rampant, food and water rations were in short supply (food supplies were always rare for the Confederacy, and most of what Andersonville officials got went to the staff), and the camp was overcrowded and unsanitary. In its time, it was treated with the same horror that many people treat Auschwitz with. Indeed, pretty much all the horrific conditions we associate with Auschwitz happened, except for the actual killing. In fact, here's a photo of an actual survivor from Andersonville:


At the time, it was basically considered one of the most horrific war crimes in American History and cemented in many people's minds the idea that the Confederacy had gone utterly beyond the pale of acceptable human behaviour. In fact, when the war was over, Henry Wirz, who commanded the camp was subject to a trial for the thousands who died under his command. He was hanged on November 10, 1865.

What does this have to do with the Holocaust? Well, the total number of prisoners at Andersonville was 45,000, with 13,000 death. This translates to a death toll of approximately 29%. Simply put, with all the scurvy, diarrhea, dysentery, and starvation going around, without actual mass killings, they were only able to kill 29% of their prisoners. And the death rates at many of Germany's concentration camps were much higher.

So, my questions are:
1) How exactly could one manage to kill so many people without mass executions?
2) Even if they did somehow manage to have so many of their prisoners die without mass executions, would the horrific conditions that led to it not be in itself an atrocity?

Also, concerning your first point, how exactly does one do an autopsy on someone who's been cremated?
