Yeah, I've heard that too. If he lets people in that have never heard of the guy, why are christians spreading the word at all? It seems rather pointless. You could say they're trying to spread good values, but some of those values aren't actually good.
There's also the idea that you need to baptize babies because if they aren't, they go to hell. Some people obviously believe this, but because why else would you do it to someone who has no idea why they're being put in water, yet still worship a guy who would send babies to hell for any reason.

agreed. plus the famous "sounds from hell" hoax done a while back that made christians even more faithful... from a hoax lol.

Well if there's anything we can learn from Lord of the Rings, it's not to dig too deep into the earth. You might not like what you find.
I have heard or read somewhere that a reference to this firey place in the old testament is called Gehenna. Except Gehena is not some spiritual place of eternal torment. It was just a valley where they burned the bodies of the dead. There's also the idea that there is fire, but all it does is destroy your soul. Not torment it for eternity. So cessation of existence for those who don't follow Yahweh. Pretty much what atheists think will happen anyway, so not a good method of converting people.

yea it really isnt, like i have said in other threads, promoting terrorism. and the ol famous claim of the finding of jesus's blood..... along with the ark (noah)...

Hell is a punishment for a person's sin, it is a judgement against sin that people posses. The way out of such a predicament is the acceptance of Christ as savior. So yes people having unforgiven sin, send themselves to hell. People who want nothing to do with God in this life, want in the next, and because life is eternal sinners get their own place, unpleasant as it.
