Poll: Do atheists have as great a sense of awe and wonder as theists?
This poll is closed.
Yes and more so since they don't immediately interpret that feeling within a system of beliefs.

Yes, but it isn't on par with what theists feel. Without the feeling of the infinite personified and tuned into you, it can't be the same or as great.

No, atheists are only concerned with science. For atheists the 'unknown' is just more raw data waiting to be sorted out rationally.

I guess you can be thankful to Mother Nature or evolution for that ... since you're an atheist. Smile

I could be thankful for the forces of nature and space for that, but I don't consider that a person to thank. Since I obviously don't believe in Yahweh anymore, I don't feel the need to address him.

Yeah, that could get old after a while...

I thank thee, oh SU(3) symmetry, who governst the strong interaction, for thy strongness which confineth mine quarks and bindeth together mine nuclei. And I thank also thee, oh electroweak symmetry, for thou artst broken in the most wondrous fashion and renderest them all stable. Oooh, and praise thee, dark energy, for thou makest the universe expand and not collapse and kill everyone ....

On the other hand, it would make for a really fun solstice prayer Big Grin
My churches would have an observatory on top, and after the sermon, there would be some observations.

"Who put those there..." presupposes a who. Your question is invalid.

And "thankful" is not a useful word in this context. There is no one to thank.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.
