I agree whole heartedly. I don't need to preach my Anti-racism either, but if I hear utterances in my presence that would otherwise go unchalleged, I'm saying something. My "Atheism" is too complicated for an anesthetized, indoctrinized, full-blown YEC to even grasp. In my experience, starting with my adopting the title of Atheism as the topic of discussion with any one of these types of Theists is taking the LONG way to any productive exchange of ideas. I don't believe, therefore, I don't know. The Socratic method is FAR more useful. Knowledge claims of a biblical nature are still knowledge claims, and if I don't know, asking questions to provoke little sparks of intellectual honesty is by far the best approach. What they know soon becomes what they think. And if what they think doesn't make sense, then I don't have any problem pointing that out.

I rarely bring it up, myself.

If asked I'll say that I'm an atheist. Or if someone tries to push their beliefs on me.

Oh, and no, I don't generally talk about my atheism because it never comes up. I've only had conversations about it with my best friend, and even calling those conversations is stretching the term as it usually involves me ranting and her silently nodding until I'm done.

I had a good time with it. And the majority of people on my Facebook took it pretty well. I'd get the same few people liking the stuff every day, everyone else just moving on. Only 2 people unfriended me. Although more probably blocked me.

I actually got a lot more out of it on a personal level that I expected.

I'm still debating on whether or not I want to FB troll with atheism memes and posts. Most of my extended family/friends don't know yet, so the shock value could be hilarious.

At the same time, I don't wanna be "that guy". Also, my boss is my FB friend, and I honestly don't know how he'd react...

Maybe one or two atheism memes a week just for the lulz Thinking

I bite my tongue with my elderly parents, but just a bit. All other's had best not try to smear religious bullshit within my earshot. Especially to my family.

I try to keep it interesting for myself, some days I'll ask them how god or jesus talks to them, vocally or what not.
other days I'll attack it from the history angle, the illogic of the Adam and Eve story, or the whole god sacrificing to himself bit. They always get the "deer in the headlights" look.

I think I should do that too, getting a little tired of seeing some statuses that a few of my friends post about how god is everything and thank him for all their hard work. Ha! What a joke.
