They only care about the soldiers in terms of using them to accomplish goals overseas and to protect our foreign interests. They don't actually care about the troops as people. As long as there's a man, woman, or child to hold a gun, the Republican party would gladly send them over to make a profit. I'm not saying the Democratic party is any less reprehensible though.
Well by protecting foreign interests and accomplishing goals(and if its profitable for the nation, even better), they serve the nation. Of course, when serving your nation, you must be selfless, but those who have done their duty must also receive something back from the nation as a reward for their selflessness and willingness to fight and bleed for the interests of the nation.
How about the people? Why are they not scraping something together to help the veterans that have perhaps lost limbs in this course?

There's certain programs out there, but it's like taking a test you got an F on and then getting a D. Both parties claim they love the vets through words, but not through actions.

Well, if they actually were part of a profitable war, I think that they should be entitled to the spoils. Chingiss Khan, may the heavens bless his name, paid his warriors no salary, but he gave them a considerable amount of the loot as compensation for their efforts.

Generally people have a lot of appreciate for the soldiers in the states. A lot of their families support them and people try to do charities but there's only so much that the general populace can do. A lot of people are struggling with money as is, which is why they join the military in the first place.

Or at least that's the impression that I got from them at first. A great deal of that support seems to consist of talk. Given that very few politicians on either side of the aisle will malign servicemen past or present (and how often they speak of "supporting the troops"), it's inexcusable that they do not get better treatment and care.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
