This is the Republican Party's work, whose elected leaders are only too happy to subsidize and offer tax breaks to America's wealthiest individuals while refusing to subsidize the poorest among us.

For Republicans, a billionaire venture capitalist deserves government assistance. A dying military veteran?

Too poor to qualify for ACA coverage and not poor enough to qualify for Medicaid. Creation of such a group seems a pretty predictable outcome where states refused to expand Medicaid coverage. All they've accomplished is creation of a new problem that will need to be fixed.

The patient could not afford the transplant and Arizona refused to pay for it. Arizona reduced Medicaid coverage for transplants on Oct. 1 under cuts included to help close a shortfall in the state budget enacted last spring.

Gellerman said the patient died Dec. 28. He had hepatitis C. Medical privacy requirements prevented the release of any information about the patient.

This is the second death linked to Arizona's controversial cost cutting. Last November, the Associated Press and others told the story of Mark Price, a Phoenix-area man desperately in need of a bone-marrow transplant. He couldn't afford it and state's Medcaid program wasn't angling to pay for it.

Well, I had though that since they favor the war, they also ought to favor the soldiers that fight in the wars. If anything, they could perhaps establish a charity that supports veterans.

They only care about the soldiers in terms of using them to accomplish goals overseas and to protect our foreign interests. They don't actually care about the troops as people. As long as there's a man, woman, or child to hold a gun, the Republican party would gladly send them over to make a profit. I'm not saying the Democratic party is any less reprehensible though.
