Just so long as you admit that you presume to speak for god.
Not that we needed more evidence of your ego.

Nah, I'm sure it actually means that God wants you to take a power drill to your right eye.
Have faith.

Well, since Christ usually speaks parables in the Bible, one should probably know that this wasn't meant to have a literal meaning. Else, Peter should have had cut out his tongue, before he could deny Christ a second time.

Eye patches, horse blinders, hood winks....doesn't much matter. Christians can't 'see' all that well to being with.
That being said, I think most Christians regard the scripture in question as metaphorical. I've worn a patch over my left eye socket since I was 17, and not a single person has looked at it and said, 'PRAISE JESUS!!'

Not that we needed more evidence of your ego. Anyone, who claims the mantel of Christianity has been given the task to speak where the bible speaks and to remain silent where the bible is silent. In doing so we Speak for God.

The 'body' refers to the members of the Church. or the various forms of faith that make up the body of Christ.
I always kind of took it as this. Surely there weren't people mutilating themselves all the time at some point in history.

Pirates were the most Christian Christians I guess.

It would have been a death sentence. either through infection or not being able to work.

Lol. Jesus condemned many to death by saying that washing your hands was silly.
