you just do? That sounds like a spoilt child who can't get their own way. To bloody bad. You don't make the rules of reality. your just a tiny un-important biological lifefrom like the rest of us. Get used to it.

You can be turned off just like the rest of us. making claims and such will not save you from non-existance. Either you live in denial or you live and accept reality.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Don't you mean - "Your imaginary friend makes the rules".Wink

Just know is not good enough for me. I need evidence, reason. At least some kind of detection.

well Mike, what a charming invitation! Either accept your faith as beyond doubt or suffer the " consequences "!!
You sound like a christian zealot. By that I mean a number 1 on the Dawkins spectrum of probability on the existence of god. This means you subscribe to a 100% belief in he/she/ its existence. This I suggest is insupportable.
I, on the other hand, subscribe to point 6 on the spectrum, which states a very low probability, albeit less than zero.
There is a 7, which is inhabited by atheist zealots who know 100% that god doesn't exist i.e. just as unsuportable as your position.

I go no further, your god almost certainly doesn't exist, so no consequences follow on.

how can you say for certain that there are no consequences that follow yet earlier in your post you say that you still believe there is a somewhat small probability that god exists?

I don't deal in certainties, only probabilities. The overwhelming probability is that no god exists, therefore I act accordingly. Even if your god exists then what a sorry creature, unworthy of anything but scorn and contempt, not worship. You choose to believe, that is your right, but please don't be as arrogant as you fundamentalists are. You are probably wrong.

What do u mean? Darwin have never said that God have given anyone eyes.

I maybe misunderstand you or something. But if you think Darwin have said that God have given people eyes- then you are very wrong.

And there ladies and gentlemen you have it ... an utterly faith based and completely childish reason why this person believes and moreover why he thinks we should believe.

Mike, a quote from your own bible ... "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me." (1st Corinthians 13:11).

We've grown up, you apparently have not!

The trouble with people like MiketheChristian and to a greater extent, ManofGod is that they are so puffed up with an over inflated sense of their own self importance and an unshakable belief that they are right and the rest of the Universe is wrong that no matter how eloquently you put your point across to them, no matter how logical and sensible it may be, if it contradicts with their own view, no matter how slightly, they will reject it outright.

It is therefore impossible to have any sort of meaningful debate with them as they will never budge an inch. As far as they are concerned, we are simply lost souls who are heading for the fiery pits of hell and it is their duty to save us.

They wriggle, twist and turn just like the best politicians and never give a straight answer to the simplest of questions. I notice that MiketheChristian has completely avoided any of the points I raised earlier, for example.

I know many Christians, most of whom are sensible and imaginative folk and in most cases a great deal of common ground can be found. Unfortunately, when it comes to fundamentalists like this they are so blinkered and buried in this dark age nonsense that it totally overwhelms their every waking thought and they adopt what I consider a 'crusade' mentality. All they see in life is some biblical struggle between good and evil. And as they are no doubt good, everything and everyone that dares to question them must be evil.

The greatest 'gift' that humans posses is an enquiring mind with an almost limitless curiosity and fascination about the world it inhabits. It is a true sadness that such potentially intelligent and determined minds can be infected by this evil virus and spread nothing but fear and confusion wherever they go.
