Their fear is far more telling.

When you read the history of the labor movement in the United States, you often see honest hardworking Americans beaten down and murdered by private thugs and government forces. Enough to boil any decent man's blood.

The overly positive portrayal of history in my school textbooks never prepared me for the sheer nastiness of wealthy industrialists more often get their way at the expense of hardworking Anericans.

Nor did school ever admit that Black Wallstreet was destroyed by rioting racist whites.

They barely admitted that lynching was a problem during Jim Crow, a cutesy name for "Fuck Black people".
