Are you worried about the Norse hell? The Greek pantheon's underworld? The Land of Crypts and Shadows, an afterlife I just made up right then?

Why not? They have exactly the same level of evidence for them as the christian hell does. The truth is, the only reason you're particularly afraid of christian hell is because you happened to be born into a christian family that wanted you to obey christian rules. The hell you fear isn't a question of truth at all, it's a question of geography.

I know it's a belief that can linger with a person, and frankly I find that messed up, but just keep that in mind; there's plenty of hells you could be going to, and in that, you're in the same boat as anyone else. Nobody knows more than you do, and nobody has a better chance of getting it right while they're alive. We're all gambling, and none of us can see the dice we've thrown, so why not just enjoy the ride and see what happens later?

We covered this in another thread; hell isn't real so let it go. I suppose that's easier said than done for those that actually believe in hell.

Here, watch this. It will make you feel better when you get anxious about the idea of hell.

Wow - this came out of nowhere.

OK - lets think a little:

Christianity tells us God is perfect and we are not. He made us that way (why?). In order to fix the thing that he made (deliberately) imperfect he sends his Son (who is him) to earth to enlist followers and then die as a sacrifice (human sacrifice - peachy!) to himself to pay for the sins of the imperfect creature he deliberately created in the first place.

Now in order to be saved (from being what he made us to be) we have to worship Jesus, or God through Jesus (who is God anyway). We must love Jesus (commanded to love - can you do that?). We must Love God (yeah - the guy that put all the above shit together). We must worship God - not through fear of eternal damnation in Hell, but because we love the old rascal with his peculiar games.

If we do all of this we get to spend eternity with God.

That's a reward? You'd want to spend eternity with this nut?

Consider that fully 1/3rd of all the Angels (who knew God personally) CHOSE to leave him after the fall of Satan.

Ask yourself why a perfect, loving, all knowing, all powerful entity like God needs to wield a big stick (Hell) to get us to follow him. Why would so many angels leave him when they knew him?

Ask yourself if any of this makes any sense.

If you think it doesn't then it might be worth looking at alternative explanations for us, the world and the universe.

Do that enquiry safe in the knowledge that there is no God, and therefore there is no Hell and therefore there is nothing to be scared of.

Or - crawl back into your cocoon of fooling yourself till the day you die safe in the knowledge you won't be going to Hell (or heaven as we both know).

I'm going with that too.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

So, doctors did their best and saved his life and you're giving god credit for their hard work? That sounds like kinda an asshole move if you ask me.

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

This is the problem with theists and supernatural types. You see something out of the ordinary, and immediately jump to the most illogical and insane conclusion. There are a thousand possible explanations, ranging from the mundane to the strange, that are infinitely more plausible than a magical space god randomly healing your brother with his mind.

Can I ask why God chose to save your brother, and not the babies/young children conceived by my friends that have died at birth or a young age?

What the doctor being a Muslim has to do with anything I don't know. It's the equivalent of telling me that two carnival fortune tellers agree with each other.

EDIT: Also, what TaraJo said. Shitting on the hardworking medical staff that save lives every day.
