Look at the bottom of that post and you'll see an 'edit' button. You can use it to fix the post.

I fully encourage you to make use of it, but I think the best use you could come up with is to erase all the garbage you've posted on the forums.
I live on facebook. Come see me there. http://www.facebook.com/tara.rizzatto

There is however a time limit, so if it exceeds it and you can't do it yourself, contact any of us mods (we're the one's in green).
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Why would you swear on your life about something of which you have no direct knowledge, only a story your parents told you?

You've ruled out the the doctors may have been wrong about your brother's prognosis. Why? Do you think doctors are perfect?

You've ruled out that your parents may have embellished the story over the years, something that tends to happen even without any intent to lie. Why? Do you think your parents are perfect?

Anecdotes are barely evidence, and hearsay anecdotes are even worse. It's okay. You've never been taught how to evaluate evidence. The reason you've never been taught that is that it would let you figure out for yourself the likelihood of a story being true. Your parents do NOT want you to have this skill, because they intuitively understand that a lot of what they're teaching you can't stand up to that kind of evaluation, and they value you believing what they do more than they value you being able to evaluate truth claims. This is because they believe you'll burn in hell if they don't do a good job of making you believe you'll burn in hell if you don't believe them.

It's a sort of infection of the mind. Critical thinking skills are like security software that let you clean bad code out of your system and prevent more from getting in.

My parents have told me people choose to reject God and go to hell, atheists really DO believe but are just denying it.

By the way my parents only talk about hell when I say I'm worried about it. I would NOT say they are trying to scare me.

Then your parents sound like fundamentalist nutcases

That's a very common lie Christians spread, it's designed to discredit dissenting opinions, and to reassure you of your faith.
I don't believe in a personal god, not even deep down in my heart. It just doesn't figure into my life and actions at all.

Yeah maybe. But what do they SAY when you tell them you are scared about it? Surely not the reasonable thing: it's a fairy tale, so relax. Any other answer is just making it worse.

I dunno if this is relevant or not, but my parents have thought me that everything that happened in the Bible is 100% true, nothing like say Adam and Eve or Noah are just parables, and everything is the unabashed word of God.
