How a questioning mind mucks up the bible story.
March 22, 2014 at 1:08 pm
I saw this cartoon and it struck me that this is exactly how the questioning minds of rationalists are mucking up the bible stories that once placated simpler a mankind and thus gave rise to the story defenders, also known as apologists.

I've said before that apologists are like the fan fic writers that step in to solve continuity gaffes in the story.
When Han Solo boasted the Millennium Falcon could make the Kessel run in so many parsecs, this was thought to be a script-writing gaffe since a parsec was a unit of distance and not time. In step the fan fic writers, one of whom composed a story of Han's Kessel Run. There was a short cut through an area of space that contained a black hole. In order to avoid being pulled into the point of no return, a ship would have to be traveling at light speed. Consequently, it now made sense why it was significant that Han could make the Kessel Run in a reduced number of parsecs.
Fan Fic authors and fans of all sorts are ready to invent apologetic arguments for their favorite works of fiction. The only difference is the Babble has an alleged divine author and so is supposed to be free of errors. We can still enjoy Star Wars knowing it was written by fallible human authors. Not so with the religious and their scripture.
