Why It Is Not Too Late To Repent And Turn To Christ

And the deeper you go, the worse it gets. Fundie creationists don't just have to redefine moral terms, but also scientific ones... the whole religion is just about shitting on the very idea of language until eventually the dialogue is so skewed and confusing that god comes out the other end looking sparkling without ever having to earn that.

Granted, but it does seem that you're managing to achieve that which you don't mean. Perhaps a change of approach is in order?
What change of approach do you suggest?

Not too late? That arrogantly implies we are not that much smarter than you, and therefore are stupid enough to think it might have been a good idea at least at one time in the past.
Are you calling me stupid because I believe in a Creator? Does that mean every one who believes in God is dumb?

When did Jesus ever say believe in me or burn? He did say, Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

What was it I was just saying about how your religion twists language? No, Jesus never said "believe or burn," because that wouldn't have gone over well. Instead, we get how "merciful" it is that he saves anyone from hell, and how "just" a god that would sentence us to eternal punishment for finite crimes is.
You are a follower of a religion that completely inverts the meaning of moral terms in order to fit them to a god that doesn't deserve them. The bible is basically a handbook for doublethink.

You are avoiding the issue and you know it. The point was about the dishonest redefinition of words that you do. You dodge the issue by quoting your magic story book. But the fact remains -- you do a Humpty-Dumpty with words in order to make your awful cult more palatable. When called on it, you pull out the all-purpose magic story book and spout random quotes that have nothing to do with anything. That is nothing but an obvious diversion tactic.
Let's go back to the religion/relationship lie that you Jesus-squeakers are so fond of. Ask yourself honestly -- why do you repeat such a lie when we all know that it's bullshit? Why do you need to redefine words -- if the teachings of your cult were really that solid, then there would be no need for such sleazy tactics.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste -- don't pollute it with bullshit.

Like I said, if you want to believe in whatever it is that you believe then that's a-ok. I've got nothing against people holding beliefs.
It's when people start touting their beliefs as truth and, moreover, start using an imagined divine authority as a reason for the behaviors (eg "I am honored to be a messenger of the almighty!") that I take a stand, because beliefs like that tend to be dangerous to everyone who doesn't espouse them. They also tend to try and impose on the (non)beliefs of others, especially the young, the poor, and the gullible.
So no, sorry, I won't be ignoring your posts, but outright lambasting them and objecting to them every step of The way.
OK, I hear ya. I understand you don't believe as I do. I am just sharing with you what I believe.
Ok.
You seem like an ok guy, but you need to realise that you're not simply sharing your beliefs with us. You're actively asking us to consider and ultimately agree with them, and none of us are going to do that unless there's something more than 'I believe' behind it.

Maybe (fingers crossed), Rev will realize anyone who has "beliefs" without support is going to be taken the same way as anyone else with unsupported/unevidenced beliefs.
No different than the claims of Raelians, Scientologists, Christians, Mormons, Muslims, UFO watchers and Sasquatch lovers.
Without compelling *evidence* all such claims are on the same level, i.e., bullshit.
So come on Rev! Give us some evidence or go home! Surely after 2,000 years there must be *something* you Jesus freaks can provide other than "I believe it" or "I read it in a book written by a bunch of ancient men".
Sorry rev, not compelling.
Meanwhile, the FSM is worthy of your worship and has reserved a place for you at Luigi's All-you-can-eat Pasta Buffet! After getting your fill of starchy goodness, we'll toss back a cold one and spend eternity ogling an UNENDING supply of the finest strippers you've ever seen! Better than Dallas, Vancouver BC and Amsterdam put together!
Now that's a heaven I can get behind. Or a stripper's behind I can get behind. Until the $1 bills run out of course. FSM ain't running a charity here!

Nah, they're both pretty clueless. This guy Rev is only better because G-C acted like a little shit when we called him out on his bullshit. Rev just keeps trucking forward all hunky dory.
Reminds me of these nitwits.

I respectfully disagree. Have you ever read the Bible from beginning to end? Or perhaps, like most on this forum, just jumped around to atheist sites that pick and choose a handful of Scriptures out of context and twist them into a pretzel? Not buying your scrutiny of something you never really studied.

But we are all telling you that your method here is failing spectacularly. This isn't just my opinion. Read over the posts in the two threads you have started. You are not being successful at all.
So if your mission is to help us, (a notion which is at the same time presumptuous and condescending) then you need a change of tack. You are telling us things we have all heard a thousand times before, and we are just swatting you away like an annoying gnat. If you wish to be taken seriously, (and I do admit that I am making an assumption here) you need to come up with something more substantial than one-liners and personal experiences. These are not compelling at all.
If I can compel even one person on this site to Christ I would be overwhelmed with joy.

Listen, I'm not here to promote myself. God chose me and I am honored. He chose 12 wayward souls and did great things with them. You guys might be brilliant intellectuals but that doesn't mean you are beyond God's reach. God loves all of you more than you can fathom. I feel love to for all atheist here including Minimalist.
