Holy grail found?

RE: Holy grail found?
Eostre

Quote:In the second volume of Deutsche Mythologie, Grimm picks up the subject of Ostara again, connecting the goddess to various German Easter festivities, including Easter eggs:

But if we admit, goddesses, then, in addition to Nerthus, Ostara has the strongest claim to consideration. To what we said on p. 290 I can add some significant facts. The heathen Easter had much in common with May-feast and the reception of spring, particularly in matter of bonfires. Then, through long ages there seem to have lingered among the people Easter-games so-called, which the church itself had to tolerate : I allude especially to the custom of Easter eggs, and to the Easter tale which preachers told from the pulpit for the people's amusement, connecting it with Christian reminiscences.[10]

To me it would not be the grail, it looks way too fancy, and they can't account for the first 400 years of the grail's history, which is a lot. but when you want to believe. . . anything goes I guess. Never under estimate the power of denial.

RE: Holy grail found?
The Grail is supposedly the cup from which Jesus drank at the Last Supper. A few problems: Since there was no Jesus, there was no Last Supper. Since there was no Last Supper, then the bloke who didn't exist wouldn't have had any cause to drink. Hence, not the Grail.

But I especially liked the tag end of the article:

That said, they claim to have used a scientific dating method to determine that the chalice was likely made between 200 B.C. and A.D. 100.

So, the cup was made sometime over a span of three centuries, and the impoverished man who wasn't there to drink from it at a dinner party that never took place just happened to come across a jug worth a (petty) king's ransom.

Pardon me for failing to convert.

I too don't think this cup is the holy grail. It's too rich for Jesus. But if you believe Jesus didn't exist, you're in fantasyland. Even most atheists would disagree with you on that.

The article says the jewels were added later. It does looks like its been dressed up over the years.
