Yes, he does point much of the historical points of the Bible as historically accurate because he and other scholars have been able to verify them to the records of major world powers and to the archeological record. That is especially related to Kings and Chronicles. Judges and prior, he is not so keen on the Biblical explanation. He even argued King David is possibly based on two people since the Biblical narrative uses another name for the man who slew Goliath, stating it was possible that hero's exploits were bestowed upon David to increase his legitimacy.
You really think Christians would attack him if he had instead stated the entire Bible was accurate?
