"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Keep the profanities to a low, because we know these people will shut down at the sight of them and talk politely.
That's my strategy, at least... In a few years, we'll see if it works... That was my argument, though. Get him one on one with Esq, and he can't just answer the easy questions. He answers the tough ones or he doesn't, but he can't evade and continue the dialogue. It will give him no outs other than quitting.
I just think we're in for three months of this thread, different topic, same tactics otherwise.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

And what, exactly, are you laughing about, Rev?

Question rev. Do you really want to know what a transitional fossil is, or are you really trying to just ignore everybody but ask a question you want an answer to?

A transitional fossil is one that doesn't exist, because Rev assumes that all fossils belong to "final forms". So, when we find another link, he sees a brand new (final form) animal that was previously undiscovered.
Basically, all contradictory evidence has already been dismissed before it's even been brought to the table.

He laugh in lieu of having anything respectable to say. It gives him that ostrich-head-in-sand joy of thinking he had won even while he had nothing respectable to say.
He is not acting this way to defend christianity. He is acting this way because he is christian. All that christianity has ever been about is to confer that ostrich-head-in-sand joy upon idiots like him so that their saints, prophets, priests, deacons, and preachers can fleece them to support their own somewhat more substantive joy of kitshy bling, vacation homes, Private jets, Rolls Royces and gay prostitutes.

He's laughing because he knows it's true and that we will all foolishly swarm around like moths to a flame.

This is the guilt I feel when I participate in these threads. We flock to this, and Rev's just confirming his ridiculous bias with every post. I have a feeling he's just copy/pasting all this (quote mined, of course) into some christer forum somewhere.
