Sex is not a massively important act. Treating it like it is makes for serious issues involving shame and anxiety. You ever have sex that wasn't intended for procreation? I have. I started when I was 15. (A sophomore in high school) I have had plenty of sex since then and oddly enough because I learned about it, contraception, and reproduction---and wasn't shamed into thinking it was this massive thing---said sex has never resulted in anyone being born.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Tell that to all the kids out there without dads, because Dad doesn't care about them. He was just in it for fun - nothing important you know.

Once again, this is a complete non sequitur.

And with condoms and other forms of birth control, that wouldn't happen as often, would it?

And, uh...what was mom in it for?

You know, for a guy who worships the bastard child of some slut who didn't even know who the father was, you are mighty particular!

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

It would probably happen less often, but it would still happen. I think we need to teach our kids the seriousness of the sexual act. That's not to tell them it's not pleasurable or fun, but to teach them the damage that can be done to children's lives because the parents weren't committed to loving and caring for a child that might result.

That's the attitude I'm referring to. It really strenthens my opinion that sex belongs only in marriage.

Well, you know what they say about opinions. They're like arseholes; everyone's got one and they're usually full of shit.

You are conflating sex with procreation. You need sex to procreate, but you don't procreate every time you have sex. The latter is a subset of the former.

You don't even need sex to procreate. My Sam and I were undergoing IVF so we could have the child(ren) we always wanted. Mind, we also had the sex (boy, did we...)
