Yup. According to doctrine the reason women suffer from painful childbirth is because Eve was duped into eating the fruit from the tree that god, the all knowing, all powerful creator of the entire universe, the billions of galaxies, and trillions of stars, put in the garden with the only two intelligent, curious creatures he had ever created and told not to go near.

How's that for idiotic.

Oh, and if I remember rightly, Adam's punishment was to become a farmer.

It is all of these hundreds of little stories that I find incredibly hard to swallow. Myths are a lot of fun, but should be left as myths or for writers like Tolkien. Great stories for some, but we would nevver believe lord of the rings was part of history.

Were the olden times guys really serious when they made this stuff up?
I can see some bored clerics, plotzed on the sacrificial wine and one upping each other on what they can get their minions to buy.
