Argument #2: Evolution Of Species

You know, I have a half-written response to that link that I'm not going to finish, because I know you'll just ignore it/dismiss it with one line as you have done throughout this thread; you clearly think your time is so much more valuable than ours. You also completely ignored rasetsu's post proving you bastardized the quote from Kerkut, showing you're just a filthy lying scumbag. Nothing more.

Argument #2: Evolution Of Species
I wouldn't call him a scumbag, I just think he's running into extreme if not insurmountable difficulty in a failing battle, and can't really deal with the dissonance (assuming he's been reading links) between the stark contrast of reality to a fundamentalist understanding of the bible.

I can't speak to any individual believer's motives, but it seems to be a combination of http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect

And confirmation bias.

Am I seriously going to have to explain this to you step by step? Jesus, okay...

Rev, do we know more things today than we did fifty years ago? Has technology improved in fifty years?

Let's start there, okay?

Of course technology has improved in 50 years for a computer hasn't morphed into an airplane.

I imagine that has something to do with those being inanimate objects.

I love it when theists argue against evolution by comparing an organic process with inorganic objects.

I have a different theory. I believe Rev huffed to much leaded gasoline as a youngling which left him with the reasoning ability of a used twat waffle. In support of my theory I present his posts in his last two threads.

Why would you like to refer us to yet another "wrong understanding of the world"?

Can you understand that we are not interested in anything related to any god that has been conjured up by man?
Without a god to fall back on, we take reality... or our best abilities to understanding it... and that, old boy, is where science excels.
Among many other things, science has brought us the theory of evolution of the species by natural selection.... a theory that got a huge boost when DNA was discovered and it confirmed that we are all made up of the same building blocks.. all animals, plants, fungi... all life.
What the conditions were for the first spark of life on this planet... we can only speculate. We can show that it is possible to have energy put into a particular system and get proteins out and, on some occasions, it is possible for these proteins to clump into some form of self replicating structure.
There is no absolute way, except time travel, to find out exactly how it happened... but we know it's possible.
Life - and Evolution - is the continuation of this self-replicating process, where the better suited individuals formed new populations in diverse habitats, which then specialized further and further, and further... and BANG... and perform a few system restores to a previous state... ahah, no... not a previous state, it's just that many habitats that were taken by other more powerful creatures got mangled and those creatures disappeared, leaving new niches for the few who remained... And now here we are, sharing this small blue marble with an astounding variety of life, brought on by a simple principle: stay alive, procreate.

I used big strokes on this painting, because I know that any fine stroke requires way too much time to research... and ultimately, without a time machine, we can't know for sure.... we have educated guesses.

The model, "evolution by natural selection" has withstood all new evidence that's been thrown at it, since Darwin was first mocked for his idea. Through DNA sequencing, ice core analysis, radio-isotope dating, fossilization and mummification (think Mammoths)... our educated guesses have been time and again corroborated.

You wish for mankind to throw it all out the window, because your special book has in it that some magic entity made all of this by itself... and, if the chronology accountancy is right, it was all done some 6000 years ago and done in such a way as to make it look much much much older...

Please, stop embarrassing yourself.
The magic entity that the book mentions seems to be no more real than Darth Vader or Harry Potter. Work with reality.... not against it. You'll lose.

You make it sound that straightforward and simple, but it is not.

Cute little jab, but planes don't reproduce with variation, so you're completely off the mark there.

My point, however, was this: why on earth would you think that biology hasn't advanced in fifty years too? Thinking

Edited to add: Oh, but since you want to talk about airplanes and evolution, here's a scientific paper on the use of evolutionary algorithms in aeronautics. Something that simply wouldn't be possible if evolution did not work.

You kinda picked a really bad example, there.

Only because you are unwilling to open your mind to reality.

You're getting a little preachy Rev. This is what happens when a god botherer empties his/her arsenal with no effect. We've all heard this silly shit thousands of times. If your pathetic excuse for a God really loved us he would have prevented you from inundating us with your inanity. Or maybe, just maybe, your ignoramus God would have thought it a good idea to imbue you with an argument worthy of consideration.

Ahh, but God has chosen even a fool as I to confound the wise.
