Wasn't the extended hangar scene with Biggs?

Don't vent too hard. Save some for after you've been drawn, against what little better judgement you have, to see JJ Abrams perpetrate a Star Trek reboot upon Star Wars.
George Lucas needs to stop fucking with Star Wars. This constant updating and "fixing" shit needs to stop.
That being said, I do not have high hopes for the new movie, and the prequels have left me bitter. Unless I'm really wowed by previews, I probably won't see it.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

There is, in my mind, one good thing about Star Wars being in Disney's portfolio: They may be powerful enough to tell George to go fuck himself. Not that they will, they're corporate money-grubbing whores. (May 7, 2014 at 2:25 pm)Faith No More Wrote: I do not have high hopes for the new movie, and the prequels have left me bitter. Ep.I was an abomination, and I think made Ep.II and Ep.III seem worse than they may have seemed otherwise. Then there's Jar Jar. Fuck, now I'm depressed. The franchise really started to go downhill with Ep.VI. Replace cute Ewoks with Wookies pullin' peoples arms outta their sockets and the whole franchise might have been saved. Not that they will, they're corporate money-grubbing whores. Yeah, it would be nice for them to tell George to fuck off, but the real problem with Star Wars was that Lucas was a money-grubbing whore. So, I'm pessimistic that adding Disney to the mix will change much. The only thing I'm hoping for is that they see the investment value in making quality movies, as opposed to churning out shit because they know everyone will see it anyway. Although not as bad as I, Episode II was terrible on its own. And Episode III should be considered an abomination due to the fact that we got a mediocre movie out of what should have been one of the most epic story-lines in cinema history. I mean, it's the origin of Darth Vader. The fact that the movie was just "meh" is a crime against humanity. (May 7, 2014 at 2:36 pm)Cthulhu Dreaming Wrote: Fuck, now I'm depressed. It was George's first sell-out.

Would you build your awesome new Death Star, requiring an externally generated shield, near a planet inhabited by wookies? Or by Ewoks? RE: Star Wars

I know I'm not the only person who was never really impressed by Star Wars. It just feels like that when I'm on the internet.

I wouldn't - were I the Empire, I wouldn't build the damn thing near any living witnesses that weren't firmly in my grasp. Then again, I don't believe that a bunch of primitive Ewoks could defeat stormtroopers, either. A movie like this - you have to suspend disbelief. I'm not saying it would be believable, but Wookies running amok and rippin' out stormtropper arms would be unbelievably *entertaining*. In short, I would have written a script that didn't suck, were I George. |
