Evolution, religion, and ignorance.
RE: Evolution, religion, and ignorance.
Maybe if we all say it at once he will get it. Ready? 3...2...1: YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND EVOLUTION!
'The more I learn about people the more I like my dog'- Mark Twain

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

"If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech

What was the male of every species on earth doing before his mate was constructed? You have a male with all of the capabilities of using his sexuality before there was even a mate. What are the odds of two different sexual beings being accidentally together at the same time with all of the necessary opposite parts being complete at the same time so an offspring could be created. No Possibility! Did the male have all of the female parts himself, and then share them with another man? You know where that one ends up.
Both creatures had to be built to be compatible in every way before a birth could even occur. Birth? What a monumentally problematic idea that had to be. A sole creature had been making offspring all by himself, then one day, an opposite and completely correct match was found accidentally that could provide life. Is this getting dumber by the moment?

Have you ever read a book on evolution? A real one, that is - one written by an evolutionary biologist.

Imagine if the female mentioned before did not have one of the needed parts to create a child. You know that nothing would happen. What would a sole holder of genetic information do when his byproduct had to match that of the female who would be needed to provide the other half of the genetic traits he was giving half of? The biggest impossibility would be that he had any desire to do something about this problem. His drive to be with a woman had not even been developed yet.
Multiply this by every animal that exists and you see that growth of species could never have gone this way. Any other ideas?

Seriously, read a book. Your ignorant, misguided, misinformed incredulity is pitiable.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

I have had huge groups of church people try to lay on of hands to drive the demons out of me to no avail. I found faults with the literature and the swarms proceeded to drive me out. Some God's Love huh? I don't blame a single one of you for being atheist. People are the same wherever you go, including here. After the church junk, I actually feel more at home here, since I have gone through the absurdities the same way as many of you. Don't be too upset at me sharing this stuff. Where else do people talk about problems with Church and Science. Back tomorrow after work, Thanks, Rick.

Are you truly having a crisis of faith?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

The fact that I'm finding faults in the compilation of information called evolution is only because there are so many faults to be found. Rather than repeat over and over that I have no concepts worthy of your acceptance, lets try a simpler approach.
Consider again the idea of the first mating pair. There had to be a first one at some time, right. If you say no to this, you have no reason to try to diminish someone who is trying to reason. Can you define the first pair bonding arrangement in simple clear terms, and not try to hide behind what you believe to be scientific progress. Somewhere in time a first mating pair meet, be it cell or whatever. Your difficulty will be to explain in simple terms, the immense number of transitions that an organism would have to make to meet and connect with anything closely resembling itself. And you know that this connection can only happen if the two cells are similar to each other to begin with. Where did the differences come from. It's those differences that make cellular advancement in this way totally impossible. You don't need a degree in science to see how impossible something is.

So, let me make sure I have this right.

You lack the education and experience to understand the science behind evolution, and this is your qualification which justifies your belief that it is impossible? And, we're supposed to prove this assertion wrong for you?

How about you go to school and get the education you very obviously need?

For me to understand Evolution as you expect, I would have to be totally indoctrinated into a method which you say is proven. A proven theory? Interesting. If you could fill in all of the blank spots along the way with something that could attain rationality, you might have a good working hypothesis at best. Comments about religion have had no play in this discussion. We should go head to head, on one point at at time, and debate the possibilities.

There is more than 150 years of data on the subject. Go learn something. It's not up to us to teach this to you. If the science is wrong, you should no doubt be able to find the real answer.

The scientific method is not indoctrination. It's a toolkit for discerning reality from imagination.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

No, you'd need to actually educate yourself about it and stop citing or quoting creationist nonsense.

Quote: A proven theory? Interesting.

More creationist nonsense "It's just a theory!" No, it's a SCIENTIFIC theory. It is far more than the standard use of the word.

Quote: If you could fill in all of the blank spots along the way with something that could attain rationality, you might have a good working hypothesis at best.

It's perfectly rational. It's you who won't educate yourself about it. As for the last, see my comment above. And by the way, creationism doesn't even qualify as an hypotheis - just a claim.

Religion has no place in discussing science. We've seen debates by creationists before They, make irrelevant claims, move goalposts, cite unscientific sources, and then finally pout and claim they're being excluded because of some conspiracy
