I thought we gained that hereditary trait* when Eve ate fruit from the forbidden tree. Being made "in the likeness of God" has nothing to do with it.

* Hereditary, in that people didn't have this trait, then Eve ate some fruit, then she gained this trait, and we've all had it sense. God damn that story is so stupid.
Adam and Eve were created with ability to know good and evil, but they didn't learn about it until they ate from that tree.

There is absolutely no reason to believe anything in the Bible regarding Christ's return or the existence of an afterlife.

I do repeat the same stuff because that's the evidence - and I don't do it mindlessly. If you want to see mindlessness, read the shout box on an average day or the posts in the R'lyeh forum or read your own posts. Now there's some mindless stuff.

Does the Bible say that, or are you just making it up? All I remember the Bible saying is that the tree contained the knowledge of good and evil, and nothing about them innately possessing the ability.

Honestly, this is a rather funny interpretation. Would you call knowingly going against God's will "evil"? Your idea is God could have told us what was good and evil, yet he didn't, and he allowed them to make an "evil" choice by disobeying him. That's just weird. Original sin exists because God decided to keep Adam and Eve's understanding of good and evil to be like a child's, and then he went on to punish every single human going forward because of it.

Your apologetics just made YHWH look worse, not better.

And don't forget the fact that he knew how it would turn out beforehand.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Claim repetition does not constitute evidence. If I were to keep repeating that you will die in three week's time by being impaled in the ass by a clydesdale's cock you would be right to dismiss my claim until I provided credible evidence as to how this was going to happen.

You're fucking hopeless if you don't now understand the distinction and the point I am making.

It's just stuff modern Christian apologists have to come up with in order to explain away the difficulties arising from a literal interpretation of the Scriptures.

This was right after they are from the tree:
Genesis 3:22
New International Version (NIV)
22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

Yes, after they ate from the tree, not before. You said they already had that knowledge from the beginning.

Show me where I said that. I did say they were commanded not to eat from the tree.

So, according to your wording, they had the knowledge from creation. But they became aware of it later.

Not that it makes sense or anything to me, but there you go.
