Surprised at you GC!
This was written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Ephesus. It is meant as wonderful guideline in life and a way to live happily with ones neighbors and fellow believers. It is not meant to restrict a Christian from ever showing anger towards an ignorant thought or person. Jesus became angry without sin. Perhaps you should learn the Bible before spouting off like an idiot.

If that was it's purpose, it could easily be imagined how constantly avoiding conflict would make for a much unhappier and shittier existence than confronting ones problems would, head on so to speak. I don't think that this is a very useful guideline at all.
Don't get me wrong, I understand coddling an idiot....but somebody has top just stand up and say "Hey idiot, stop fucking up the machine....you're doing it wrong because you're an idiot....it's not your fault....I'd explain it to you again, help you again...but it won't matter.....because you're an idiot" don't you think?

The lack of aggression is always useful. I think you're twisting my words/the words of Paul in order to make your point.

But isn't that the point? For a guideline to be useful it ought to be difficult to "twist it" to imagine a scenario in which the guideline was counterproductive. Especially if that scenario crops up with regularity...like idiots do. Eh? The lack of aggression is most definitely not always useful either, hooah. In fact, when aggression is the best tool for the job it is very effectively used in a swift, decisive, and insurmountable way. Shock and awe. Make em put their heads down and stay down - on a dime. Overwhelming weight of payload, sustained covering fire..etc When you call for artillery, you don't want the guy with the pistol showing up asking where to fire...you want the big guns, aggression.

Spouting off? Lol. I'm merely quoting the word of God brother. If you don't like it, take it up with the author! Paul's exhortation fits rather well with proverbs:-
"A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control."
Did it look to you like GC was giving vent to his anger or keeping it under control?
And indeed the sermon on the mount...
"You have heard that it was said to our people long ago, ‘You must not murder anyone.[a] Anyone who murders another will be judged.’22 But I tell you, if you are angry with a brother or sister,[b] you will be judged. If you say bad things to a brother or sister, you will be judged by the council. And if you call someone a fool, you will be in danger of the fire of hell.
REPENT!! I don't want to see you burn in hell!

Godschild Might be a little over the top, but I have to agree with the bolded part. Exlax accuses everyone else of logical fallacies which he commits on a regular basis himself.

hehehe, appeals to hypocrisy :claps:
Whether or not a person uses logic or is internally consistent with it's use (or with itself) would not weaken or strengthen the position that one should use logic (or shouldn't), or should avoid logical fallacies (or shouldn't). So, all we have is a case of someone committing the odd error of thought (we all do it) while warning others not to commit errors of thought. It's good advice, regardless of the messenger.

Seriously?! "A little over the top?!"
Lets see how partisan we're going to be here. AM, you tell me if you think GC's comment above is in line with the scriptures I offered and I'll tell you if I think esquilax is guilty of a logical fallacy (you'll have to find one).

I would love for you to show us some examples of these fallacies.

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

"If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech
