I like how you guys are so open minded in your discussions. A credit to your fellow atheists.
I remember my own critical thinking classes at university... the professor would start a new topic on something that we were unfamiliar with. We'd call him stupid, idiotic, try to humiliate him as much as we could and laugh together at the absurdity of his ideas. That's the way we learnt new ideas fast.
True story.

I think he has me on ignore. Too many tough questions, too many tough answers. As Esquilax stated, he's obviously too scared of hearing counter arguments to his beliefs and assertions, that he won't go into any detail about them to avoid scrutiny. Frankly it doesn't work and its pathetic. More disrespectful than GC's infamous paragraph. I have a question to anyone who has been here a few years. Was he always like this, you know the trolling, the undeserved sense of superiority, the evasiveness? Because I have a hard time believing he didn't get banned if he has always been like this.

Hey esq. I'm simply not addressing your diversion. Cry all you like, i'm not prepared to wander off the only subject I addressed.
Hi bad wolf. No I don't have you on ignore yet. I simply can't find anything you've addressed at me to be on topic. I assume that you might cotton on so I'm reading what you put. There's still time I guess.

You are literally the biggest ass hole I know.
I couldn't care less about staying on topic. When you say something that is wrong, I will address that, regardless of what. It's not my fault that your super inflated ego can't deal with an actual discussion where you could be wrong about the things you assert. You can't just state something stupid and then cry about the criticisms being off-topic. Why are you not banned? You just flat out refuse to discuss anything and you have consistently ignored perefectly valid responses for no reason.
In summary, go fuck yourself. Put me on ignore if you want, it would just be another piece of evidence that demonstrates you as a coward.

Reading through this thread again esq, I've actually been addressing your question directly. You don't see it, but that's what has happened. You dismissed scientism as 'stupid'. It's a word. It describes accurately the over dependence on empiricism that you profess, and that you say 'most' atheists profess. If you want to engage here, please look up the term.

You haven't demonstrated this 'over dependence' on empiricism, or that a dependence on empiricism is a bad thing. Have you any examples of empiricism being bad and not finding the answers? Have you found any examples of empiricism being beaten by faith? Bet you can't find em.

Frankly the notion is absurd...

Empiricism is essential where it applies. I've never said it isn't. Care to address the point rather than what isn't the point?

Sciencing is bad huh
Cmon frodo
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
