I say 'oh my god' and 'jesus!' all the time, those are expressions influenced by religion, but then again so is our calendar, and I'm not going to stop using it because of it. In fact, don't ask me why but I feel relieved when I say 'jesus!' everytime something out of the ordinary happens, I find the name jesus to be funny. Christians, don't take this as a ticked to convert me!

Thanks. I feel less embarrassed now. Yeah using words for days that are based on norse gods doesn't bring me any closer to being a follower of Odin or his pantheon.

Nope.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

You come into a place away from the real world, a place where we can vent, blow off steam, rail against the injustices perpetuated by the religious against us (least trusted segment of the population, et al), and you expect to find sunshine and rainbows all over the place?!?

Thick aren't you?

I'm as happy as a pig in shit most days, even when I'm in here ranting and venting against yet another retarded claim that I can't be moral without gawd or that I'm gonna fry for eternity 'cause I deny the gawd I must so obviously believe in so that I can live a life of sin and debauchery.

You want to judge our happiness from our actions here? Piss off. I'll bet you know atheists in real life, even if they haven't outed themselves to you. Why don't you try to see how happy we are in the real world.

One thing that happened to me (it was embarassing at the time, but I've gotten over it) was erectile dysfunction. Because the church said sex is evil, I would always feel super guilty when I got with girls.

It wasn't until years later that I got over.

I was just wondering if anyone else had experiences like that

There's a lot of stuff like this at http://new.exchristian.net/

From the ages of 12-18, I suffered from some pretty severe guilt due to my discovery of porn. No one talked to me seriously about sex or porn during this time, and it wasn't until I abandoned my old faith that I was relieved of the guilt.

It boggles me that religious people want to keep people from having premarital sex so badly, then also want to ban an easy and harmless way of relieving sexual tension that doesn't result in babies or STDs.
