What advice would you give to your younger self?
#11
RE: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don't ever smoke a cigarette in your lifetime.

Most your family is clinically insane

Hell probably isn't real

Life isn't about doing this or doing that and not doing this and that. It's about finding the right balance of everything that works for you.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

That reminds me of another one:

Don't trust people too much, but don't be overly suspicious of them either.

I can agree with this one. I've had problems with gullibility.

1- Learn how money works. Then make it work for you.

2- Yes, you do want to tell stories for a living. So start drawing.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

John L. is going to fall in love you, PAY ATTENTION !!

You're going to fall in love with Brian M. You might want to avoid that one, he dies.

You'll understand Dewey someday, and you'll even know him better than he knows himself. Turns out that is gonna be the best possible outcome.

When Mike B. talks about his dick, act interested, it's worth it.

Don't try to figure out Donnie Fuckin' R., just do what he wants, and he DOES want it.

Be more sober the night you wear the dog collar and leash to the Wreck Room.

Don't buy the tie dyed suit, you'll never wear it.

Do what you have to do to get the fibreglas CC kit for the Monte Carlo, you'll never regret it.

Your shrink is a sneaky rat bastard, do what he says, it turns out fine except for Brian

Pay more attention when Y gets murdered, they never solve it because they don't try or care. Make a stink about it.

You'll never believe it, but that annoying kid at church burns up in a space shuttle

Yep, that really was Earl Scruggs nephew. Go figure.

That day when the freshly mowed clover smells so good at work is going to be the high point of your time there.

Buy more vinyl albums.

You'll outlive Peggy C. by many years, it's OK to put up with her crap, you get the last laugh.

Take more pictures of your friends.

That's a really depressing revelation you got there.

'Honor' doesn't come from anywhere Rayaan. There is no such real quantifiable thing or entity. Its not a position, or status. Its a label, a word.

Honor boils down to reputation, i.e how others see you. But the context you're using it in is psychological, in other words your overall happiness and self-esteem. You understand that these cannot come from man, technology, family, legacy, money, work, achievements, recognition, but you've granted special pleading to your god. He's exempt.

God cannot give you a sense of purpose or fulfillment. Because your life is still your own.

The Christian god is no different. The Bible does not teach people to love themselves and as a consequence, how can they ever expect to love others?

Self-worth therefore has to come from you. If you cannot see any value or merit in yourself, then no one or nothing can.

Part of me wants more context. Part of me think's the greatness of that post is in the lack of any real context.
