ALL atheists are such because they don't believe in a god or gods. That is pretty much the definition.

People can disbelieve for good reasons, or bad reasons. but disbelief in a god is atheism.

Not all religions have churches and churches are not required to make a religion.
You have Hindu mandirs, Islamic masjids, and Mormon temples. All of these serves as places of comfort, worship or gatherings. In the case of a church it functions as a club often times and I do not know why atheists call them churches to be honest. They are clubs really.

I am all for atheists gatherings but this church nonsense is stupid

No. If I dont believe in God that is what makes me an atheist. That is what qualifies me as an atheist. Whatever it is that it took you to through that path (it's either skepticism or curiosity) nevertheless the main reason is your disbelief.
