I think I may have actually successfully loaded a video to Youtube for the first time in ages. Funny how severe I look. I don't feel that way on the inside. Oh, and I was using my computer to read the script from but it died midway. Winged it from there. (Repeated myself .. a little worrisome.)

As you can see I have no accent, just 'regular'.

Very generous of you to say only slightly nervous. For whatever reason, I always get uncomfortable having my picture taken. I though doing it in my power spot would help but an introvert doesn't ever completely lose its spots.

When I get the time (meaning, when I have half an hour in front of the computer without kids and wife buzzing around asking what I'm doing, and while there's some natural light around, because the webcam is shite), I'll do a "accent" thingie where I'll show you guys all the cool sounds in the portuguese language that are remarkably absent from the english language.
Hopefully, I'll tell you the difference between 'a', 'á' 'à', 'ã' and 'ê' (this last one is rare... I can only think of 2 words with that accent on an 'e' -> 'dêem', 'vêem', oh, oh... a third, 'têm') and all those wonderful diphthongs that kids hate in school! 'ão', 'ães', 'ões', etc...

That's the plan, at least. You guys think it may be worth the trouble?

But you got my nasal voice and a self portrait which is rather more personal than a photo. Don't knock it. And the still shot idea got you Losty's voice which you probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise. It may get us Blackout yet.

Anyone else on the threads bilingual? As much as I would like to be, I'm not. I was once sitting in the waiting room at my physical therapist's office and couldn't figure out why I couldn't read the magazine I was holding - all the words looked "right" and should have made sense, but I couldn't read them! Then I realized it was a PEOPLE magazine written in Spanish. :p I've taken Spanish on and off since I was in about 2nd grade so while I can't speak or read it, it looks and sounds normal to me.

Then I went on a study abroad to Italy where I learned a little traveling Italian which totally fucked up whatever Spanish proficiency I still maintained from high school.

Oh, and the only thing I can say in German is "Ich habe meine Deutsch-Klasse heute Abend"

I'm not. I studied Spanish in high school for 4 years, and even French. Despite my SoCal birth and upbringing, I took to French much, much better, but even lost that.

I am a mutt, but a lot of my descent is Swedish, a language I love to listen to (enter "Show Me Love/Fucking Åmål"), but don't understand. I wouldn't mind learning someday, though.
