Feel Embarassed or regret by ones religous past?

Feel Embarassed or regret by ones religous past?
Does anyone ever feel embarrassed or regretful of how they acted due to their past association with being part of a religion?

I was hardly associated with anything at all, so no, I don't regret anything... Well maybe I regret having thought that the world actually came from god, Adam and Eve, but after I was trough primary school my history teacher taught us that was bullshit (and he was a Christian)

It seems to me being ambarassed by past association with religion, so long as it is in the past, makes as much sense as being ambarassed by being born poor, or being born to the wrong ethnicity, or being born into a lineage whose distant ancester's had at one time danced naked around a pile of mammoth dung.

No. We all do the best we can at the time with the information we have. But I didn't do anything particularly horrendous.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

No, I wasn't a proselytizer or asshole about it.

Thanks for the answers, yea those assertions make sense. I guess the most embarrassment I feel is due to the fact I held this one particular world view. Then turn around and defend it with pathetic arguments and cognitive dissonance.

lmao. Yes, I regret past actions. These post are just flat out funny. It must be an age thing. Anybody that understand what it means to grow up understands that everything we do in life defines us as we are today. Do I regret believing? are you joking? That is on the same level as spilling a beer. Yes I regret it, the girl slapped me and I didn't get laid.

As a grown up, I regret really hurting people even though most of them deserved it. That regret is independent of belief young lady. I hurt them. Nobody, or thing, made me do it. If we blame something else for our actions we the punk ass losers too.

I don't think I was ever horrible to people before I became an atheist. It's not like I preached hellfire and brimstone to homosexuals and people who had premarital sex. Maybe I feel a little embarrassed that anyone would want Yahweh to be real and worship him. Given the violence people have faced for going against the grain, though, I can understand why some older people would believe it. They didn't want the KKK to burn crosses on their lawn, or get fired, or worse for saying Yahweh is a narcissist who doesn't seem to actually care about Humans at all. Maybe that's closer to pity, though.

The only time I could have been considered a "believer" was also around the age when I believed in Santa, and I'm not embarrassed about that. I believed what I was told because I trusted the people telling me these things.
