Re: the guillotine, there's a story about one beheaded aristo (Mme Pompadour?) whose head bounced into the crowd. Someone caught it and gave it a hefty slap across the face - whereupon it scowled in anger at him. I bet that guy shit his pants for years afterwards.

Then there was Anne Boleyn, beheaded with a French sword. As the swordsman held the head aloft by her hair, the neck pouring blood, her eyes flicked around the horrified crowd and her mouth opened and closed as she tried to speak. She didn't seem to know she was dead, or soon would be.

I'll close with this harrowing account I came across of a guy who got beheaded in a car crash. The driver recounts that his friend's head bounced and landed in his former lap, where it looked at where it used to be before giving a great moan of despair. Then the eyes rolled back into the head and he died.

I dont know what I'm more shocked about, that a Muslim would chop someone's head off for Allah or that Brits are known as "mash bangers" (a term I hadn't heard before and wouldn't have understood if someone had called it me)... I think I'll go with mash banger.

I live in orlando and that is what we call the paste-y white Brits who wear nothing but shorty shorts/soccer dukes, knee high socks, "sandies", and tank tops for a week, go out into the sun with SPF 1000 and still look like a beet red kettle cooked sausage. That's the "banger" bit. (Because they look like a red hot or a ball park frank) then God help you if your at a theme park, or worse yet an idrive restraunt waiting for a table, with one next to you. None of them seem to understand what personal space is. They crowd you when their is no reason to all the while reeking of coconut oil, and aloe. That was the mash part (they mash against you in line)

Since bangers and mash was already taken and to lessen confusion... The mash banger was born.

I know what bangers and mash are, and quite enjoy it with baked beans and/or gravy, but I think most people in the country would just look at you with a blank expression on their face if you called them a mash banger. I know I would've at least.
