Also because, as I already stated multiple times, I find your word choice to largely confine itself to straw-men.

Ok so that was your long winded way of making the argument of "Honey vs vinegar"

Nope, sorry here are a couple of things you need to consider.

1. Some people will never respond to honey and sometimes there is no polite way to tell someone they are full of shit.

2. You also assume that the debate in the moment is the end goal. Most of the time when someone leaves one position for another no matter the issue, it is never one one person or one moment of time. Humans do not shape their positions in the moment but over time.

3. You also assume that honey is what we need to always present to make a point. The problem is that if we never have our internal conflicts ourselves others outside our label will assume we are blind loyalists ourselves. Our different approaches is a good thing to see because they cant paint us as sheep.

Context matters and life is never an either/or proposition.

You are wrong that my tactic is not productive. Again that is you mistaking your comfort level as being the only right way.

What gives?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

I'll explain my faith, beliefs and reason for them gladly. Empty philosophical belly aching doesn't interest me.

Nobody is "bellyaching" here. You merely do not like my bluntness or succinctness.

I do not care what claim on any subject you make, even outside the issue of religion.

You start ANY CLAIM off with a naked assertion that has no evidence anything that follows to back it up will be as shitty as the claim itself.

Instead of ignoring what everyone here is telling you, be intellectually brave enough to consider that you got it wrong.

Do you really enjoy trying to justify an old book written by people who had no modern knowledge of reality? Are you having fun with us beating the shit out of your claims?

Maybe you need to consider that we are beating the shit out of your claims for good reason.

Does this formula make sense to you?

Brerfetey<=I like it<=It is true because I like it.

Allah<=I like it and the koran says i should like it<=Therefore Allah exists because I like it

Tell me why I should treat your claims any differently than you do in rejecting the samples above.

I promise you Froodo, nothing bad will happen to you if you accept you got it wrong. There is no hell to burn in. You wont end up barbecuing babies or raping women. You can still love life and do good things and be good. It will simply mean you woke up.

Firstly Bri, that has nothing to do with your thread or your discussion. Frankly I find it hilarious that you should want to talk philosophy. I'm sure you made a booboo here Big Grin

Secondly, you beating the shit out of me would first involve you coming up with a coherent sentence. So far we have a fallacious claim and a lot of silence.

I don't believe because "I like it", or any other nonsense you come out with because you're too lazy or just incapable of reading my responses to you.

Please Brian, for the sake of everyone's sanity please shut up.

(I went to see my mum in hospital today too. I hope yours is good)

God=1+warm fuzzies=bullshit

No "Philosophy" going on there calling bullshit bullshit.

Entropy is a science. Evolution is a science. Those are based on established prior data. Religion relies on gullibility and prior tradition. Your god claim and every other.

Are you talking to me Brian? I can't tell because what you say bears no relevance whatsoever to anything I've said.

I'll assume you're talking to someone else. An imaginary friend I guess. Angel

Your ignoring me or anyone else is absurd, you not me are the one with the imaginary friend.
