The point of the post is to highlight the unarguable and blatant lack of supernatural intervention. How can people actually think that there is a moral god while their god is watching an innocent child die while his followers are worshipping him in church? I guess they will each individually and as a church try to rationalize that issue. i just don't know how anyone in the congregation can feel like their god will intervene on their behalf if he didn't protect that child. So I imagine are most Christians. They write books with title like "When Bad Things Happen to Good People." Though that particular book was written by a Jew.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
A laudable goal!
Do the clergy warn their flock about things like that?

That's all I was asking After further contemplation, I bet this will bring the church closer together. This is not a time when believers will lower their defenses and cope with reality. I think the story itself speaks to the need for parents to pay closer attention to the care of their children. The story behind the story is that this happened in the least likely place for a believer, which is why I shared it here. Maybe I'm just aligned with the person who started the "why doesn't god heal amputees website. http://whywontgodhealamputees.com Probably old arguments for the people here.
Yeah....why WON'T god heal amputees?
Seems like an easy trick for a 'god.'
A child died, that is all I can focus on here. That, and how to prevent future recurrences through awareness and unity. Now is not the time to be divisive.
It's very common, though.
http://www.hlntv.com/article/2014/06/24/...-how-often Quote:Since 1998, an average of almost 20 children every year have died after being forgotten about in the car. Those tragedies are heavily concentrated in June, July and August, according to research and tracking conducted by Jan Null in the Department of Earth and Climate Sciences at San Francisco State University. She has found that at least 316 children in the United States have died under those circumstances from 1998 to 2013. |
