Red Bull doesn't give you wings, 13 million payout for lawsuit. Claim your money

Is it just me, or is this whole thing totally insane?

Why would anyone believe that advertising slogan was literally true?
"Giving you wings" is a common figure of poetic speech, for fuck's sake.

But even crazier is a court taking the suit seriously.

But finding for the plaintiff is just mad beyond belief.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

You're the one who asked a stupid question in the first place. I gave you the obvious answer and you then gave a snarky response.

I guess they agreed to pay because:
- Less hassle
- More publicity
- Loads of personal details of common folk, which they can now sell to companies and get most of the sum back.

Rest your weary head and let your heart decide.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

It reminds me of the (hopefully apocryphal) story that supposedly happened in the nineties, after the release of one volume of "The best air guitar album in the world". Apparently, some music chains were selling it with the tongue-in-cheek offer of a free air guitar, until one lady went in to buy one for her son and threatened to sue when there was no actual guitar forthcoming. Had it been me, I'd have mimed handing over an invisible guitar.

I would have mimed the guitar handover, and then charged her sales tax on it.

She'd only have complained about being charged for a free gift.

No, I asked a rhetorical question that you answered with an abrasive response for no reason.......... who in their right mind made you a mod ?

Hmmm, sorry for this lame attempt of dark humour. Can families of victims of suicide sue Nike over the "just do it" slogan? Big Grin
