"North Carolina's laws prohibiting same-sex marriage are unconstitutional as a matter of law," wrote Cogburn, who was appointed to the federal bench by President Barack Obama. "The issue before this court is neither a political issue nor a moral issue. It is a legal issue."

This is precisely what people need to understand: Whatever your moral views, whatever your political leanings, rights are first and foremost a matter of law. When you accord the right of marriage to heterosexuals and deny that right to homosexuals, you are guilty of treating people differently under the law. When you enact laws prohibiting gay marriage you are de facto creating second-class citizens by creating laws which apply to one group and not another.

That the Christers could not cough up even a single coherent and specific argument against the practice, despite having since 4004 BC to come up with one, is really telling.

It is a myth that all these states and federal district courts were ruled by democrat judges. It would be nice if our right wing SCOTUS would stop siding with big business making it obvious they ARE playing politics.

When has any christians ever come up with any coherent argument for anything that is specifically Christian, or for anything advocated mainly in the name of the figurehead of Christianity?

The fate of Arizona's marriage law could be decided in a week.

U.S. District Judge John Sedwick issued an order Thursday night stating that he believes this week's appellate court ruling that declared Idaho and Nevada's marriage restrictions unconstitutional applies to Arizona, as well.
