Secular reasons for and against legalising abortion

With the issue of abortion the only safe way for society is to leave it between the doctor and the patient and regulate it so that it is safe, anything else is sticking your nose where it does not belong. So do a lot of other medical procedures which are preformed, do we ban those procedures.

4. Legalising abortion will inevitably lead to selective abortion based on genetic abnormalities.

I personally believe that aborting fetuses just because they have tested positive for Downs Syndrome for example is personally aborrent. Also as more fetuses are found to have this or that genetic "abnormality", the odds are very high that they will be aborted.

However in spite of all that, I still support fully a woman or couple's right to choose.
